Thursday, 24 November. Four regional mayors from Aachen, Brunssum, Heerlen and Maastricht participated in a working visit at NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum. Commander Allied Joint Force Command (JFC), General Wolf Langheld, and the Mayors discussed the latest NATO developments regarding JFC Brunssum and their regional impact.

This special occasion was also used to reopen the Limburg Lounge, which has been redecorated with art from the Province of Limburg.

The mayors from Aachen, Mr Marcel Philipp; Brunssum, Mr Clemens Brocken; Heerlen, Mr Paul Depla; Maastricht, Mr Onno Hoes and the Chairman of the Regional Board Parkstad Limburg, Mr Gerrit van Vegchel arrived at the Headquarters where they were received by Lieutenant General Jouke Eikelboom, JFC Brunssum Chief of Staff.

After a warm welcome by General Langheld in his commanders office and the signing of the guestbook the distinguished visitors commenced their working visit.

"An increasingly broad and robust link between the regional community and our JFC Headquarters Brunssum is very important. This is to the advantage of us all,” General Langheld said.

During a special briefing session the guests received information about the regional economic impact of the JFC Headquarters, the presence and tasking of the different military installations and organizations in the region, NATO's decision to reorganize its command structure and the positive impact of this for JFCBS. The guests used this opportunity for an animated discussion on future activities and cooperation.

The last event of the day was the reopening of Limburg Lounge. The Limburg Lounge is decorated with regional art offered on loan by the Province of Limburg. It symbolises the excellent relationship between the Province and the Headquarters since its opening in 1967. The Limburg Lounge is used by the Command to meet and host guests and delegations visiting the headquarters.
