Everything is Possible! – Try A Triathlon 2012

Jun 10 2011

On Sunday 10 June 2012 JFC Brunssum will host its second Try a Triathlon for the JFCBS community at the base swimming pool with the aim of raising money for the charity Afghanaid (http://www.afghanaid.org.uk/).

Following the success of the event in 2011 the team who organised it were keen to build upon that success with the next iteration. The event will be largely unchanged from last year although for the adult competitors the distances will be aligned with what is referred to as "sprint distance” events.

This comprises of a 400m pool swim, approximately 20km bike ride round JFCBS base roads and a 3.5km run around the outside of the base. There will also be a children's category that will be the same as last year, comprising of a 50m swim, 1.6km bike ride and 400m run.

Additionally, having listened to many people's reasons for not participating last year the organisers have brought in another category: the team event. Teams will be of 3 people with 1 member from each team participating in each discipline of the race. This promises to add yet more excitement to the event and hopefully will attract more interest as offices and/or delegations challenge each other to be the best.

As with 2011, there will be a multitude of other things to do whilst you are waiting for a family member to finish. There will be a number of stalls to look around and activities for children plus a BBQ to keep you fuelled. If you want to sign up, need more information or want to look at some training programmes then please look at: http://www.facebook.com/jfcbs.
